Welcome to my webpage

My name is Nicky Harbridge and if you are experiencing anxiety, stress or depression or feel you may need support to help you come to terms with a trauma or bereavement then counselling can help you to get your life back on track. Talking things through with a counsellor may help you gain perspective and move forward when you are feeling unhappy in your relationship or career and want to reassess your goals or direction in life.

How Can Counselling Help You?

Discovering what is important for you and learning to recognise and make use of your inner resources in times of stress and emotional upheaval such as divorce, bereavement or redundancy are just a few of the benefits that counselling can provide. Counselling can offer you the space to work through personal issues in a confidential, supportive and non judgemental environment.

About Me

I am a fully qualified & experienced integrative counsellor. My counselling practice is in Long Melford Suffolk where I offer counselling to people of all ages. I also work as Child and Family Practitioner for a charity organisation providing specialist support to young children and women who are survivors of sexual violence and abuse. I am a lecturer in young peoples counselling for the University of East Anglia and run regular training events in Suffolk for counsellors and psychotherapists.

How I work

I am an integrative counsellor, this means that I integrate different therapies into my practice in order to provide a service to suit individual needs. I have developed a skills set which includes talking therapy, solution focused therapy, behavioural therapy and therapeutic art and play techniques. I am experienced in working with a wide variety of complex issues such; depression, OCD, eating disorders and sexual abuse.
In our work together I will provide a safe, confidential space for you to explore your personal situation and the issues which may be affecting your life, relationships or behaviour. I offer both short and long term therapy and will work with you at your own pace.

Children & Young People

Children under the age of 16 are assessed with an accompanying parent or carer, however it is always the child or young person who decides if they would like to work with me. I provide younger children with the opportunity to work through trauma, emotional issues or behavioural difficulties by using therapeutic play and art, allowing the child to communicate with me through symbolism and action rather than words.
